Rikishi get down to business
Last week I had the priveledge of watching a dozen sumo wrestlers training right before my eyes in a fairly anonymous neighbourhood in Uguisudani. I soon realised I was closer to these man mountains in action than I would ever be, not cashing the kind of cheques needed for ring-side seats at major tournaments.
The name of the stable is Musashigawa Beya. Top wrestlers Miyabiyama and Dejima both belong to the stable but I watched the junior wrestlers go about their daily exercises and bout after bout- all before 8am!
