Echizen
The coastline beauty of Echizen Coast, which stretches from the center of Cape Echizen, is created by uniquely-shaped boulders and frocks that have been formed by wind and wave erosions, as well as cliffs. It includes Tojinbo, where dynamic cliffs continue in succession of columnar joints, and a nature-created grand tunnel of Kochomon, and is also known as one of Japan's three largest colony of narcissus.
Hot springs are scattered around Echizen Coast. Especially, Awara Spa, which has large lodging facilities, attracts many people who use the location as a sightseeing base for Echizen Coast and Eihei Temple.
It benefits from fresh seafood throughout the year. Especially Echizen tanner crab that lives 300m deep in the ocean off Fukui Prefecture coast is nationally known. Many tourists make plans to coincide their visits with the season for crabs.
