The Hiruzen Highland is a resort in a plateau region located on the northwestern side of Okayama Prefecture. It is an area where you can have fun all day long with your family by enjoying the pastoral scenery while driving, playing with animals at the Bokujo Koen, fishing in the river, or soaking in the nice, warm hot spring. Tsuyama-shi is a city that prospered as a castle town of the Tsuyama domain during the Edo era. Here, you can learn about its history by visiting such places of interest as Tsuruyama Park built on the site of the Tsuyama Castle and Akakabetei where old private residences have been moved to this location and rebuilt as restaurants and souvenir stores. Additionally, in the Joto townscape preservation area, tours are offered that take you inside the traditional houses with Namako walls and Udatsu (firewalls built between the houses).
