Kurashiki Ivy Square is a hotel that was made by redeveloping and renovating the red brick warehouses of Kurashiki Bosekijo (Kurashiki Spinning Company) that were constructed in 1889. The view of the red brick walls thickly covered with ivies is truly romantic. Because it is located in Kurashiki's aesthetic zone, the hotel provides easy access to many sightseeing spots. Kurashiki Ivy Square not only offers accommodations and a great location. Here, you will also find pottery classes (charged), a store exhibiting musical boxes from all over the world, and a store selling craft products of Okayama which are definitely worth visiting. On the grounds also are cultural facilities such as Ivy Gakkan offering western modern art classes and the Kurabo Memorial Museum where you can learn about the history of Japan's cotton-spinning industry (admissions required for both). If you stay at the hotel, admissions to both facilities become free.
