Situated in eastern Hokkaido, the Tokachi Plain is a cradle of agriculture and dairy farming, and is a major Japanese wheat, azuki bean and butter producing area in the embrace of the magnificent Hidaka Mountains and the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group. South of Daisetsuzan along the Tokachi River is a moor hot spring, which can only be found in Germany and here at Tokachigawa Hot Spring, which is popular for making bathers' skin beautiful. Many horse racing fans visit Hidaka to see the ranches from where race horses are frequently turned out, and they go to the Hidaka Information Desk for the Home of Race Horses and the Shadai Thoroughbred Club. You can enjoy horse riding and outdoor sports out in Mother Nature at Hidaka Kentucky Farm. In the downtown area north of Obihiro Station, you can enjoy the taste of skillfully prepared local cuisine at Kita no Yatai (Foodstands of the North).
