The Shima Hot Spring is close to Gunma Prefecture's border with Niigata Prefecture and is located on the eastern side of the Joshinetsu Kogen National Park.
Surrounded by mountains more than 1000 meters tall, this hot spring resort sits along the Shima River which flows between them. The year-round cool climate makes it a popular place where people can get away from the summer heat.
The Shima Hot Spring, a national hot spring health resort, is not a place that offers mere amusement but features pristine nature such as the Maya Falls.
