The Kanto region is the entire area on the southeastern side of Honshu made up of 7prefectures (1 "To" and 6 "Ken") which include Tokyo, Japan's capital, as well as the prefectures of Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, and Kanagawa.
Its southern part faces the Pacific Ocean while its inland area is surrounded by mountains. Most of the Kanto region is flat, forming the largest plain in Japan called the Kanto Plain.

In terms of the climate, summers are humid with frequent rain. As for the winter season, the air gets dry and nice weather can often be enjoyed while strong northern winds blow throughout the northern part and lots of snow fall in the mountainous area.

Approximately 30% of the Japanese population are concentrated in the Kanto region which also functions as a political, economic, and commercial center.

As for sightseeing, there are many highly popular areas like Tokyo, Yokohama, Kamakura, lots of theme-parks, and Nikko which is designated as a World Heritage site.
In the mountainous region are famous hot spring resorts such as Hakone Hot Spring and Kusatsu Hot Spring and a day trip from Tokyo is possible to both locations.
