The building of this museum featuring glass craftwork is designed based on an image of a villa belonging to a medieval European nobleman. It stands in a garden with lush greenery featuring a pond in the middle.
Mainly exhibiting art pieces related to historically famous families like the Medicis and the Rothchilds as well as Venetian glass products from the 15th to 18th centuries, there also are modern artworks from the late 19th Century to the present. Indeed, the museum has a collection of approximately 620 works and it exhibits about a hundred of them.
There is also a workshop where you can experience making glass pieces and accessories by carving your favorite design on glass using a method called "sandblasting".
Additionally, the museum shop offers approximately 100,000 selections of glass products from around the world. At the open-air cafe, you can enjoy sandwiches, pasta, and sweets while gazing at the beautiful garden and the mountains of Hakone.
