Zoorasia Yokohama Zoological Gardens is a zoo divided into seven zones representing the world's respective climatic belts and regions, which are: Asian Tropical Forest, Subarctic Forest, Oceanian Grassland, Central Asian Highland, Japanese Countryside, Amazon Jungle, and African Tropical Rainforest.
There also are many rare animals at the zoo such as okapis and storks (protected species) and a total of approximately 400 of 70 different species are bred here.
Striving to actualize environments as close to as possible to the species' natural habitats, regionally-specific settings interwoven with animals, plants, and human culture are created. Therefore, the zoo's respective zones are very similar to the homelands of its different animals.
You can also enjoy a leisure stroll or have a picnic at the recreation grounds called Wanpaku-no Mori and Korokoro Hiroba. Additionally, many fun events including a pony-riding experience are also offered. Indeed, this is a zoo that proposes a variety of ideas to get acquainted with animals.
