Yokohama[横浜]
Famous as a port city, Yokohama ever since its port was opened in 1859 played an important role in the cultural and economic development of Japan.
The population of Yokohama City where "Yokohama" is located currently has exceeded 3.6 million, turning into the second biggest city in the country after Tokyo. Here, you will find a wonderful blend of the old and new including the Yokohama Landmark Tower (tallest high-rise in Japan) and the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse built in 1911.
The modern cityscape of Yokohama Minato Mirai 21, Chinatown bustling with energy, Yamate Seiyokan Residences with western architectural structures still reminding us of the times when it was an enclave for foreign residents after the port was opened, and Yamashita Park where you can feel the sea breeze on your skin all are truly attractive areas with their own unique atmospheres. Therefore, Yokohama is a place where many tourists visit all year round.
