Sakitama Fudoki-no-oka Hill is a vast historic park of about 265,000 square meters centered on national historic sites and the Sakitama Tomb, located 1 km southeast from the heart of Gyoda City.
There are 9 large-scale tombs concentrated in this park including Maruhaka-yama Kofun, the largest Japanese circle shaped old tomb mound, the Kanto area's foremost Zenpo-koen type Kofun (a keyhole shaped tomb), Futago-yama Kofun, and Inariyama Kofun; they were constructed between the end of the 5th century and the beginning of the 7th century. This area was designated as a national historical site in 1938, and has developed into the current park.
A national treasure sword, Kinsakumei Tekken, was found in Inariyama Kofun in 1968, and is stored at the Saitama Prefectural Museum of the Sakitama Ancient Burial Mounds situated inside this park.
