Omiya Bonsai Village Omiya Bonsai Village

Omiya Bonsai Village is known as one of the most outstanding areas for Bonsai cultivation in Japan.

Bonsai Village was first established in Omiya in 1925 after the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 when a group of professional gardeners and Bonsai enthusiasts from Tokyo who had suffered from the earthquake moved to Omiya seeking the open space, fresh water and air ideal for cultivating Bonsai.
They worked diligently to grow Bonsai, and such attitudes gave encouragement to those who love the land, gradually increasing the population of Bonsai professionals.
Six Bonsai gardens still exist, preserved in the beautiful and quiet town along the Bonsai Shiki-no-Michi (Kaede Street).
The Bonsai Festival, held on May 3-5 every year, bustles with many Bonsai lovers from all over Japan.
Many people from abroad who love Bonsai also visit. You can enjoy the beautiful shade of trees throughout the year as they change from season to season.
