Shinjuku is a downtown area representing Tokyo. Centered around the JR Shinjuku Station, offices and commercial facilities can be found spreading in this region.
Shinjuku serves as a source of trends where a variety of commercial facilities are gathered. Comparing Higashiguchi (east side) with Nishiguchi (west side) and night and day, you can find that it indeed reveals its different characteristics. The Higashiguchi is an entertainment district and can be considered as a typical Shinjuku area with Kabuki-cho, a famous party town, as well as long-established department stores such as Isetan and the well-known Studio Alta (TV studio). Meanwhile, many skyscrapers such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Headquarters are found in Nishiguchi.
As one of the major bases representing Tokyo, Shinjuku indeed is an area that progresses everyday with many people coming and going.
