Himeji/Akashi
The City of Himeji in southwestern Hyogo Prefecture, which faces the coast of Seto Inland Sea, is famous for the Himeji Castle, which is designated as a world heritage site.
Himeji Castle escaped fire caused by bombing during World War II, and for that reason the original elegant tower keep and plaster walls are preserved almost unchanged from the time of construction.
In the city, which was developed as a castle town, has expansive shopping streets where visitors can enjoy shopping and gourmet dishes.
The City of Akashi, which also faces Seto Inland Sea, is a scenic place of warm climate.
It is situated near the ocean area which has many egg laying sites and aqua farming sites, and is rich in sea food, such as octopus and sea bream. A rebuilt watchtower of Akashi Castle, which was built in 1618, is situated in the northern side of Akashi Station. The area adjacent to this is Akashi Park, which is famous for its beautiful cherry blossoms.
