The Rokko Arima Ropeway is Japan's longest aerial lift line connecting Mt. Rokko and Arima Hot Spring in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. Riding on it will offer you a breathtaking view of the nature of Mt. Rokko.
Mt. Rokko is group of tall mountains with a highest point of 931meters standing on the northern side of Kobe City. It was developed into a vacation resort during the early Meiji era when foreign settlers began building their vacation homes here. In 1956, it was incorporated into the Setonaikai National Park (national park of the Seto Inland Sea).
From the cable cars, you can experience a "walk in the air"and enjoy the seasonal beauties featuring cherry blossoms in spring, fresh green leaves in summer, crimson foliage in autumn, and snow-covered landscape in winter.
The temperature around the mountaintop area is about 10 degrees cooler than Kobe's city center. Here, there are a number of facilities where families can have fun together such as the Rokko Garden Terrace, Alpine Botanic Garden, Kobe Shinrin Park (forest park), Rokkosan Pasture, field athletics, and artificial snow slope. It would be convenient to go up the mountain by using the bus that takes you there.
