Tajima is surrounded by mountains, such as the 1,510m-elevation Mt. Hyonosen, and the Sea of Japan.
Close to the summit of Mt. Hyonosen, people visit highland swamp plant community and virgin forests in summer for hiking and in winter for snowboarding.
Meanwhile, the beautiful sand beach of Tajima is packed by vacationers in summer and in winter by many tourists who come to the region for its tasty tanner crab.
Hot spring is available in nearby Kinosaki and Yumura.
The old spa of Kinosaki, which boasts its 1,500-year history, has been a favorite visit site of many famous novelists who write about the place.
Visitors can enjoy hot spring not only at inns and hotels but also seven outer hot spring spots.
