Oita/Beppu/Yufuin

Oita City, the central city of Oita Prefecture, and neighboring Beppu and Yufuin are major sightseeing areas with hot springs in the prefecture.
There are lots of hot springs all over the area mainly in Oita City. The number of hot springs there accounts for one-tenth of the total number of hot springs in Japan.　　Beppu is a bustling resort with hot springs including "Beppu Eight Hot Springs", and "Jigoku Meguri Tour" to explore eccentric scenery. On the other hand, Yufuin is famous for Yufuin Hot Springs with calm atmosphere, and is known familiarly as a refuge for adults. There is a clear difference between the two types of hot-springs resorts.
Both of the resort areas are easy to access from Oita City, and it takes less than one hour by public transportation.
