Lake Towada/Oirase

This area is filled with local nature of Michinoku, including Lake Towada, located at a height of 400 meters above sea level, Oirase Stream, one of the most beautiful spots in Tohoku Area with many waterfalls and limpid streams flowing from Nenokuchi, and Mt. Hakkoda with primary forest and bogs. You can go up to the summit of Mt. Tamoyachi with a height of 2459 meters by aerial cableway. You can enjoy beautiful scenery of new green leaves, autumn leaves, and trees covered with snow and ice, and a stroll or hiking on nature trails filled with blossoming alpine plants in Mt. Hakkoda. There are famous spas dotted about at the foot of the mountain such as Sukayu, Tsuta, and Yato, just like they used to be like hot springs for cure. Local specialties are tender Japanese beef of Lake Towada that is produced in the great nature at the foot of Mt. Hakkoda, and grayling of Lake Towada whose pink colored fillet is so delicious.
