Not only are men able to show their appreciation to the women in their lives, department stores use this time of year as a great opportunity to offer discounts on select merchandise during their White Day sales. As such, much of the merchandise suggested for purchase is white in color such as the obvious white chocolate, but gifts also include handkerchiefs, lingerie and flowers making shopping at this time of year feel a lot like splurging in a winter wonderland. Keep your eyes peeled for designer brands offering White Day specials as well. In 2008, fashion giant, Louis Vuitton offered customers white fabric roses with its logo adorning one of the petals.

If you’re at a loss for romantic date ideas for Valentine’s / White Day try taking your date to dinner with a view. TY Harbor Brewery is open from 17:30 until 22:00 for dinner and offers patrons an incredible view of the Tennozu Canal in Shinagawa. During the warmer months terrace seating is opened up adding to the romantic ambiance already present at this establishment. Items on the dinner menu include a courgette, asparagus, pepper pizza with pesto sauce and fresh mozzarella, pan roasted scallops with Sri Lanka curry sauce and cous cous, and grilled lamb chops with Moroccan spices, green pea and mint mash.
